Guys,
How long it takes to get your passport back, stamped with a H4 visa, from the time you attend interview at the Chennai consulate.
Do they delay even for H4's these days? Want to know the average turn around time to make travel plans.
Please share your experiences.

I might be wrong, but I think EB2 India came only uptil April 2004.
And the next month (July) EB2 India became current. That is when visa numbers were issued to already pcoessed Sep 2004 cases and approved.

I need an advice from you.
The situation:
-- Involved in a collision few months back. As I had rear ended the vehicle, as per the investigation, it was found it was my fault(80% mine - 20% others)
-- Now after more than 18 months, I get a law suit for 3.25 million dollars(. This was served against ppl who were involved. Right now my I have my EAD and AP and maintaining H1 status.
So what are my options now?
1. Check with attorney and start defending..?
2. pack the bags and go back to my country ? If so, will there be any issues in coming back again, say after 3,4 years?
3. What about my GC?
Any help would be greatly appreciated and I guess it would be a biggest decision of my life ..

Hi
Today I have seen soft lud on my 485 application, My pd is dec06 eb2-India, I have called uscis IO she updated my address and she told me that they are waiting for visa number once visa number is available they are working on my case, I asked her why I got soft LUD, she replied that IO opened my file and find out that country VISA number is not available. Because they touch my file I got soft LUd.

I know you are a comitted member...you might even stick to the forum for long.

Right now, a crowd of 25,000 tracking receipts and discussing mundane issues doesn't give me the confidence to say so. I have better things in life to fight for than a lost cause where the victims (most of them) wait for others to fight for them !

In a way it's better that there wasn't a huge announcement to solve the visa bulletin fiasco today because we have so many other issues in the employment-based green card process that need to be addressed, that any announcement might have only provided a short-term fix and moved away the focus. I intend to march my heart out and hope that we bring attention to our issues which hopefully shall be put right someday.

election so they wont do any controversial bill. Same thing was said before the midterm election. So once they after the presidential election would they again say they have to face the midterm in 2010 so no controversial bills?

Is IV interested in doing a Freedom Of Information Act request to USCIS how and when they used up all visa numbers for EB3-India. That might show some information if they cooked the numbers if at all. We might get some more insight which monthly VISA bulletin does NOT give.
Yes I do agree with you. This is a most affected category. As an organization IV can request from USCIS and individually we cannot ask.

I had a quick question to ask. My, current H-1 visa is expiring on July 30, 2008. Also, my current I-94 and I-797 is expirin on the same date. I am eleigible to apply for extension 6 months in advance, starting Jan. 30, 2008. However, my question is if I apply for my H-1 visa extension now (say Feb. 28, 2008) and the extension comes by April 30, 2008; will that invalidate my H-1 visa stamped till July 30, 2008.
Please refer me to any official memos if available. Thanks in advance.

As there are now many people who are actively posting in the group. Identify and rotate the maintenance of the membership among these members on a weekly basis.
The ideas are good and in the past we have contemplated having a paid member area on IV site too. However the biggest problem we have is - who will manage it?
We all have full time jobs and already have our hands full. Adding anything extra to the current workload will be too much work for us.
Either we hire someone to do it. And to hire we need money. We find it hard to even raise money for Lobbying every other month. There are other important areas like publicity we can look at too if we get more funds. So we cannot hire anyone to manage this.
Now can someone volunteer for it? Yes but how many people come forward with a commitment in a 25k membership? You can see from the thread
