bringing bk the discussion to more serious point. We can all agree that on the surface immigration system here is seems unfair towards Indian, Chinese and Mexicans. Whats the reason behind it? why only three countries which suffers from long waits. Its demand and supply. If there were no country caps, all the visa's will be absorbed by these three countries. Even though it has cost me time and money, i think its the right policy. for a moment imagine there was no country limit, can you imagine for few years to come immigration will be from only these three countries. i think its only fair to limit how many people can come from one specific country.
and one more point, we are never going to get treated with respect and equality, just get used to it. every American knows we left our country to come to his. he is always gonna look down upon us. Immigrants are never treated with love, respect and dignity, no matter which country they go to. Case in point, Bangladeshi and Nepali migrant workers in India. We treat them like dirt back home, so discrimination against immigrants is part of immigration process. hopefully our ABCD offspring's will face less of it :)

There is nothing in it for us. In-fact, if this bill passes, they are goin got apply the unused visa numbers towards FB, and we will lose any chance of re-capture, for-ever.

We all know where the maximum nubver of FB immigrants are from, and they represent a big block of votes, since most of them happen to have the herd mentality, due to lack of education.
We, on the other hand, are educated, well read, tax paying people, who actually think about issues and merits of a person, hence no use to politicians.
Please, could you try and be a bit more positive. 400K illegal to legal or otherwise is a 400K vote if granted residency. Meaning you - a legal, educated and GDP contributor shall have more a chance to those less educated with menial jobs and no real standing on ways of life in this country or a positive contribution to true development. Being positive is half the battle won.

I submitted usps money orders for I-485 fees. Filed on july 2nd.
Any way to find out if those money orders are enchashed or no?
I did try google search and so far no answer.
I am not aware of anyway to check if money order is enchased or not, because, I think, you have to pay money upfront when you buy money order. However, I can be wrong.
Why didn't you just send the check?

Here is my thought....Lets all start using EAD /AC21. IV should start a campaign that all IV members who have an EAD start looking for a better oppurtunity and use their EAD. Lets say about 10k people have used EAD, USICS just can't deny GC for those 10k people just because they used EAD.
So, lets be bold and start using the EAD. We are not doing anything illegal! It is a legal document and we waited so many years to get the EAD and now keep talking about being on H1B till we get our GC....Comeon people, lets do it in a united way.
Why are we so fearful ? I understand, it is our way of life. But, its enough. Get bold, take risk, worst case, you may have to seek legal help if needed.
Its just a GC, imagine the plight of people who have to go to Iraq/Afganistan, compared to their risk, using EAD is nothing!!!

Was it the first extension (before the completion of 6 years)?
140 was approved and filed 485, moved on to EAD right after first H1 expired (6yrs). Worked on EAD for 2.5 yrs and then had to move back to H1( did not even know we could :D ) due to some personal issues. So applied for extension and got approved for 3 yrs.
dont know if i got lucky or if there exists some condition here. I am not sure if it was treated as a new H1 or an extension but I guess the paperwork submitted quoted it as an extension based on 140 approval and a pending 485.

Assuming Level-II falls under Eb2( Assumption as we know it's not 100% correct)
2008- LEVEL II : 4000
2007 - LEVEL II : 11495

Yes I agree with you legal immigration is not only EB category, but EB+spouse+child category is the largest when we say Legal Immigration, plus questions are posed by Engineers & Doctors and that automatically tells the person who is reading that it is about EB category. Agreed getting a GC is a painful process not to mention the bureaucracies that go with it.Agreed serious lobbying is necessary to bring about a change in the legislative system coz waiting for years to get ones GC is plain ridiculous.But the idea of REVERSE BRAIN DRAIN is just a myth.I am pretty sure that atleast 80% of the people are just average Joes whose intellect is just better than those blonde babes of the "Girl next door" reality series.We should be glad that we were raised in a foreign country lest would have replaced those poor old folks saying "welcome to wal-mart".So lets stop talking about reverse brain drain and atleast not try to replace those intelligent ones back home. We being here is best for our country and our economy.
I am with you. We like to invent all possible reasons to try to show our importance to America, but it is obvious that reverse brain drain is not a real thing.
American will do just fine without all the foreign programmers (including myself) living and working in this country. They can find Americans to do the work or if not, they will offshore jobs. Either way, life will go on as before.
Foeign born programmers are not here because they are exceptionally bright, they are here because they could get a college degree and get trained in programming skills at a cheap throwaway cost, which is harder for an average American to afford. So the foreigner gets to write programs while the American has to settle for a sales position in Best Buy.
What America really needs; what they cannot do without are the maids, landscapers, construction workers and janitors. The politicians who have to make the decision of sending out illegals have to deal with the problem of not finding maids and gardeners for their expensive homes (their wives are not going to let them do that). Easier for them to let the illegal issue prolong while they enjoy the benefits of cheap labor providing by illegals.
The GC system is entirely in our favor. It really does not benefit America in any significant way. The fact remains that we still end up stealing their jobs at some level - whether we are willing to admit it or not.
